A graveside Memorial Service for John Robert Burch, 73, of Williston, SC will be held two p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Clark Chapel Cemetery, Canton, NC with the Reverend Susan Giles officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29210-1790. John passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014.
Born in Waynesville, NC, he was a son of the late David Calhoun Burch and Ruth Nova Burch. He grew up and loved farming on his family property in NC, was active in Rockwood Methodist Church in Canton, NC; was a member of the NRA, loved fishing, and hunting. John was family-oriented and loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, brother and sister; he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. John was a US Air Force Veteran and also was captain of the Air Force Football team. He retired from Dayco as a Production Manager where he was a dedicated employee.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Ann Dixon Burch; daughter, Kellie (Mark) Ingram of Williston, SC; sons, John Michael (David McKnight) Burch of Hollywood, FL, Clay Daniel (Michael Solloa) Burch of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; sister, Marilyn Taylor of Clyde, NC; brother, David “Jim” Burch of Tignall, GA; grandchildren, Kate Ingram of Columbia, Madeline (Jacques) LeCour of Rock Hill, SC; great grandson, Jack Fite and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Burch.
