Funeral services for John Talmadge “Johnny” “Da” “Big Daddy” Miller, Sr., 69 of Williston, SC will be held four-thirty p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Johnny died Friday, August 29, 2014.
Born in Charlotte, NC and raised in Williston, SC he was a son of the late Charles Stroman Miller and Cleland Elsie Burrell. Johnny served in the US Army Reserve for six years. He was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a member of Edisto Baptist Church. He joined the Iron workers in 1965 and in 1990 became a lifetime member of the Local 848 Iron workers Union in Charleston, SC. Johnny loved his family dearly including his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Frierson Miller; daughters Tracey (Larry) Buck Sanders of Williston, Stacy (Jack) Stouffer of Summerville; sons, Robert Buck, Jr. of St. George, John T. (Tammy) Miller, Jr. of Goose Creek,; his side-kick, Frank “Noonie” Buck; 13 other grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Anderson, Jane Vereen, Ginger Beasley; and a brother, Buck Miller.
