Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin “B.F.” Fanning, Jr., 88 of Salley, SC will be held three p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel Williston, SC with visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Burial will be held in the Springfield Cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. Fellow Masons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210-1790 or to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979. Mr. Fanning passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014.
Born in Kitchings Mill, SC he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Fanning, Sr. and Callie Williams Fanning. B. F. graduated as salutatorian of Salley High School. He was U S Army Veteran having served during World War II. He was first married to the late Iris Hardin Fanning. He and his wife, Addie, 52 years. They were members of the Williston Presbyterian Church. He retired from E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant where he worked as an E and I Mechanic and in patrol. He was a member of Dean Swamp Masonic Lodge # 172 where he was a three time Past Master and was a Shriner and Scottish Rite mason. The family of Mr. Fanning would like to thank the staff of Tri-County Hospice. A special to Bell’s Caregivers who lovingly cared for him during his illness. The family would like to thank everyone for their visits and prayers.
Survivors include his wife, Addie Rutherford Fanning; daughters, Nanette F. (Robbie) Stabler of Gaston, Angela F. Brown of North Augusta; son, Frank Fanning of Williston; grandchildren, Landon Stabler, Scott (Suzanne) Fanning and Kelli Bush Hutto. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Mitchell; a brother, Lawrence Fanning and a granddaughter, Shannon Stabler.
