Betty Blume Grice

April 29, 1933 – January 26, 2015

Funeral services for Elizabeth “Betty” Ayer Blume Grice, 81, of Windsor will be held two p.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating; burial will be in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given in Betty’s honor to The Williston Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853. Betty passed away Monday, January 26, 2015.

Born in Ruffin, SC she was a daughter of the late General Ayer and Myrtice Hollins Ayer and was first married to the late Wallis Franklin Blume. She was a member of Windsor First Baptist Church. Betty retired as a textile worker after working at Betty Jane’s Department Store and several other retail establishments; she worked at the Williston Laundromat, Blume’s Produce & Fish Market and was bookkeeper for W. F. Blume Trucking Company.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph C. Grice of Graniteville; daughter, Betty Chavis (John) Bivens of Summerton, SC; son, David F. Blume of Windsor; step-daughter, Shannon (Al) Caldwell of Beech Island; step-sons, Jeffrey (Denise) Grice of Graniteville, Todd (Michelle) Grice of Beech Island; step-daughter-in-law, Shelby Grice and her husband, the late Joey Grice; sister, Mary A. Powell; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Blume; sisters, Helen A. Byers, Joyce A. Troupe, Lorraine A. Duncan and a brother, William A. “Billy” Ayer.
