A memorial service for Willie Leon Hartzog, Jr., 78, of Hilda, will be held eleven a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with Dr. Stephen Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Commission for the Blind, Finance Department, P. O. Box 2467, Columbia, SC 29202-2467. Willie passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014.
Born in Bamberg County, he was the son of Bertie L. Hartzog Amaker of Williston and the late Willie Leon Hartzog, Sr. He was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church, retired from Milliken in 1972 after a hunting accident left him blind. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a US Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Milner “Mickey” Duncan Hartzog; sons, Gregory Hartzog, Danny Leon Hartzog; sisters, Barbara H. Porter (the late George Porter), Charlotte H. Beck (Bruce); and a grandson, Daniel Hartzog, Jr.
