Funeral services for Nancy Elaine Hightower Davis, 80, of Barnwell, SC will be held three p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church, Barnwell with the Reverends Kenneth Catoe and Scott Brown officiating; burial will be in the Willow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Norway, SC. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Thursday at Hagood Avenue Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to Hagood Avenue Baptist Church, 1144 Hagood Avenue, Barnwell, SC 29812. Mrs. Davis passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
Born in Bamberg County, SC she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Emory Hightower and Mozelle Craven Hightower. Mrs. Davis was married to the late Joe W. Davis. She was a member of Hagood Avenue Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years; she also sang in the church choir, was a member of the WMU and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was Director of Voter’s Registration for Barnwell County for 19 years and was a former member of the Barnwell Garden Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Davis Hiott of Barnwell; son-in-law, Paul Anthony Turner of Lexington; granddaughters, Robin Elaine Hiott of Barnwell, Jodi Ashton Turner of Columbia; sister, Norma Hightower Hammond of Greenwood; brother, Lloyd Emerson Hightower of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Davis Turner and a brother, Steve Hightower.
