Charles Dooley

October 11, 1952 – November 10, 2014

 

Funeral services for Dr. Charles Foster Dooley, Sr., 62, of Williston, SC will be held four p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the Williston-Elko High School Auditorium with the Reverend Edgar Foster officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery with military honors accorded. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Wednesday, at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Williston-Elko Coaches will serve as pallbearers and the Blue Devil Football team will serve as honorary pallbearers. Charles passed away Monday, November 10, 2014.

Born in Fort Bragg, NC he was the son of the late Melvin Charles Dooley and Florrie Rachel Carter Dooley. He was a member of Grace Covenant Church of God where he served as a deacon, was a long-time Deputy Coroner for Barnwell County, he was equipment and sports medicine manager for W-E Blue Devils for 28 years, a captain on the Williston Rescue Squad for numerous years and past-chairman of Wonderful Williston Weekend. Charles was a youth minister of Williston Church of God, was pastor of Pentecostal Holiness Church of Williston, secretary for SC National Guard 122nd Engineer Battalion Family Readiness Group, coached recreational basketball and served as a past president of the Williston-Elko Athletic Booster Club. Charles was a US Air Force Veteran having served for nine years.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Sweat Dooley; daughter, Kelly (LTC Victor) Brown of Lexington; son, Charles F. “Chuck” (Ashley) Dooley, II of Blackville; mother-in-law, Lizzie Sweat; grandchildren, Meagan, Zachary, Jake and Retta-Jo Dooley, Cale, Jordan and Jackson Brown.
