Funeral services for Eddith Penland “Eddie” Yelton, 92, of Williston, SC will be held three p.m., Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Jamie Wootten officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be sent in Mrs. Eddie’s memory to Winfield Heights Baptist Church, Eddie Yelton Building Fund, 315 Chester St., Williston, SC 29853. Mrs. Eddie passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016.

Born in Burnsville, NC she was a daughter of the late Ray Penland and Suda Wilson Penland and was married to the late Lee Everette Yelton for 71 years. She graduated from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC and from 1958 until 1963 she was city clerk for the Town of Williston. She was owner/operator for a ladies retail business in Williston for 28 years and in 1983, was voted Citizen of the Year for the Town of Williston. She was a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church where she served as WMU Director and formerly taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Ivy Garden Club.

Survivors include sons, Michael Lee “Mickey” (Buff) Yelton, David Ray Yelton all of Williston; grandchildren, Michael Dean (Denise) Yelton, Lisa (Bret) Evans, Michael Lee (Elysia) Yelton, Jr.; great grandchildren, Claire Evans, Kathleen Evans, Natalie Yelton, Brice Yelton, Reese Yelton and James Yelton. She was preceded in death by sons, Rodney Duane “Rod” Yelton, James Sidney “Sid” Yelton; sister, Raylene Stamey and a brother, Duane Penland.
