Mar 28, 1943 – Feb 23, 2016
Terry E. Lee, 72, of Blackville, SC, died 2/23/2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Blackville First Baptist Church with burial in the Blackville Cemetery. Born 3/28/1943, he was the son of the late Henry and Jean Lee. He is survived by his sisters Linda Lee Cheseldine (Roy Cayton) of Richmond VA and Sandra Lee Hicks (Wade Bailey) of Woodstock, GA; nephews Tyler and Jeff Cheseldine and Brennen Hicks; aunt Joyce Lee Harley of Moncks Corner SC; several cousins; and a devoted friend Florence Black Keadle of Blackville. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
After graduating with honors from Brookland Cayce High School and receiving a BS in Business Administration with a major in Banking and Finance from the University of SC, he began his career with Adams Cates Realty Company in Atlanta, GA,
A hunting accident at the age of 13 left Terry a paraplegic. Although his accomplishments are too many to list, a bronze life-size statue depicting Terry throwing the javelin from his wheelchair sits at the entrance of Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta, GA. The plaque reads “Terry Lee – an accomplished athlete … who personifies the remarkable spirits of a man to triumph over spinal cord injury and lead a full active life …” This says it ALL. Terry was an inspiration to his family and friends and was loved by many who will truly miss him.
