Jack R. Vinson

April 30, 1930 – August 20, 2014

 

Jack Raymond Vinson, 84, of Williston, SC went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Graveside funeral services with military honors accorded will be held ten a.m., Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Williston Cemetery with the Reverend Dan Fogle officiating. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Thursday at the home of Kathy and Jimmy Thomas on Harper Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Born in Buffalo, SC he was a son of the late Ben and Lillian Justice Vinson. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, retired from E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant and was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church. He formerly owned and operated Williston T. V. Service.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Widener Vinson; daughters, Kathy (Jimmy) Thomas, Sue (Wayne) Crow; step-son, Kenneth Freeman; grandchildren, Eddie and Marty Thomas, Jeremy (Allison) Crow and Amy (Stephen) Sikorski; great grandchildren, Ashton, Caleb, Austin, Alana, Bethany, Noah, Sarah Joy, Jared and Joshua; sister, Mable (Donald) Brock; sister-in-law, Faye Vinson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Sue Vinson; brothers, Jesse, Robert, Fred and Paul Vinson and his four-legged best friend, Muffin.
