Roy Phillip Brock, Sr.

October 02, 1943 – June 23, 2014

Funeral services for Roy Phillip Brock, Sr. 70, of Williston will be held noon, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Ashleigh Baptist Church with the Reverend Bob Scroggs officiating; burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors accorded. The family will receive friends from ten-thirty a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Roy went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

Born in Darlington, SC, he was a son of the late Edwin F. Brock and Ruth Stroud Brock. He was a member and deacon at Ashleigh Baptist Church where he had the support of a loving church family. He was affectionately known as the “chewing gum man”. He previously served as Sunday School Director and worked with the Youth on several World Changers projects. He served his country for four years in the U. S. Navy and retired from The NutraSweet Company in Augusta, GA. He loved to deer hunt and had a very special nephew, Ed, who was his “hunting buddy”.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Christine Givens Brock; son, Phil Brock; daughter, Kerri Brock (Gene) Bolen; grandsons, Dalton Thompson, Dustin Brock; great grandson, Taylor Roy; sister, Janet Kight; brother, Eugene Brock; many nephews, nieces and cousins, all of whom were very special to him. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, J. D. Brock.
