Bonnie Birt

April 22, 1940 – June 15, 2014

Funeral services for Bonnie Faye Hartis Birt, 74, formerly of Blackville, S.C. will be held eleven am Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Ashleigh Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight pm Tuesday June 17th at Folk Funeral Home in Williston, S.C. Memorials may be sent to the Harvest Hope Food Bank, Shop Road, Columbia, SC 29201 (www.harvesthope.org/columbia) or to the Lexington Hospital Heart Unit or to the Providence Hospital. Mrs. Birt passed away at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2014.

Born in Pageland, SC she was a daughter of the late Clyde Monroe and Ashia McManus Hartis and was married to the late Bobby Frank Birt, Sr. She was a graduate of Central High School in Pageland where she played basketball. She liked riding motorcycles, loved to dance, was an avid photographer and was a journalist for The People Sentinel and The Santee Striper. She enjoyed most any kind of racing. She was co-owner of Birt’s Body Shop and retired as store manager of Rue 21. She was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church and attended Santee Bible Church.

Survivors include daughters, Rhonda (Buck) McLeod of Blackville, Janice Carol Birt Fralix of Vance; sons, Wayne (Yvonne) Birt of Olar, Ira Lee (Marcia) Birt of Vance, Kim (Carol) Birt of Santee, Dan (Lisa) Birt of Barnwell; sisters, Diane Moree, Gladys Kirkley; grandchildren, Jessica Birt, Adam (Jennifer) McLeod, Crystal (Jeffrey) Baxley, Charlie (Darlene) Birt, Holly (Wade) Tucker, Ashley Hilton, Andrew Birt, Jamie (Casey) Birt, Tocara (Sam) Wright, Raylee Birt, Whitney Fralix, Bobby Fralix, Lindsey (Chris) Campbell and Jonathon Birt; twenty great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Frank Birt, Jr.; a grandson, Eron Birt; sister, Louise Windham; brothers, Jack and Harold Hartis.
