Nell Ella “Nella” Gibson

Funeral services for Nell Ella “Nella” Zorn Gibson, 83, of Barnwell, SC will be held eleven a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Long Branch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery; the Reverends Bert Baynham and Jerry Fail will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Nella passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014.

Born in Barnwell County, SC she was a daughter of the late Willie Carroll Zorn who passed away April 5, 1970 and Susie Ellen Grimes Zorn who passed away March 12, 1981. She was a graduate of Williston Elko High School Class of 1942. She was married to the late Laurie B. “Doc” Gibson who passed away February 12, 2008, he was a very good man and gave her all she ever wanted and was a decorated veteran of World War II. She retired from National Fasteners where she worked as secretary and supervisor. After her retirement, she became involved in painting and framing pictures. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church having attended since childhood, she painted the scene for the baptistery at the church. She served as a Sunday School teacher and in various other capacities. She enjoyed sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ with everyone and enjoyed working and training her dogs. Nella was a trained and talented artist who turned her hobby into a business. She loved to take pictures of old barns and flowers and turn them into paintings. Her collection of art contains numerous carbon and water color prints. She was a charter member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of the Martha Watson Chapter in Williston, SC and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Blackville. She also sold Stanley Home Products.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Joe (Dee Dee) Jowers; nieces, Laura Ellen Jowers, Karen Z. (Steve) Creech; nephews, Wayne (Linda) Jowers, Ralph Avery Zorn, Wm. David (Debbie) Zorn, Jr.; great nieces, Jodi (Troy) Lockard, Jessica Love; great nephew, Paul Shipp; her four legged friend, Laddie. She was preceded in death by a brother, William David Zorn, Sr. and sisters, Lelia Aleise Z. Roach and Sarah Z. Jowers.
