Richard Anderson

S/Sgt. Richard Maurice Anderson, 91, of Blackville, SC passed away at his home Tuesday, July 29, 2014. A memorial service with military honors accorded will be held five p.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in the Folk Funeral Home, Chapel, Williston, SC., Reverend Jeffery Ray will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Born in Brasstown, NC he was the son of the late Wayne and Etta Caldwell Anderson. He was a US veteran having served his country during World War II in the 71st Squadron, 38th Bomb group for the 5th Army Air Force. He received numerous decorations and citations including two bronze service stars. He retired from E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. Richard was first married to the late Faith Patricia Henniberry Anderson and was the widower of Ruth Marlene Anderson. He was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Blackville.

Survivors include his children, Caroline “Pat” Friar of Johnston, Cindy (Phillip) Williams of Blackville and Keith (Louise) Anderson of Montmorenci; grandchildren, Phillip Jr. (Heather) Williams, Wendy Friar, Denise (Reggie) Rozelle, Brittany Anderson, Kevin (DeDe) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ryley, Austin, Cade, Shawn, Kevin, Brandon, Emily, Tanner and Lawson. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Williams.
